I’m having a bit of an argument with my uncle over which computer my grandmother should get. He thinks that she should by his old Mac (a very fancy, expensive version) for the same price a new laptop would cost her. I think this is ridiculous but he can’t be convinced! My poblem with it is, that I’m the one who has to help her because I live a lot closer, and in my opinion a PC is simpler to use for someone who isn’t that in to computers. Her netbanking is a mess on a mac because she has to use an ActiveCard to log on. So what I’m asking is, what is the best option for an old lady who just needs a computer to manage her netbank and write a couple of emails? PC or MAC??

PC, you can get a PC thats much much much more cheaper then a MAC, PC will be much easier to understand and use for a person who does not have much computer knowledge.

Since you are the closet one, get her a PC and make sure you setup a Limited User account for her to use. Don’t allow her to use the Administrator account because then her computer will be infected with malware.
